Philosophy for Living - How to Make Every Day of Your Life Better

A philosophy of living is a list of reasons that determine why you do what you do. Your personal philosophy clarifies your underlying values and the basic principles on which you “conduct the business” of your every day life. I’ve noticed that all truly successful people have identified their individual philosophy of living and use it to guide every decision and plan they execute.

Five-Point Philosophy of Living

At the basis of my own philosophy for living is my relationship with Jesus Christ and my dependence on God. From that basis I have defined all my other plans and aspirations.

In addition, at the core of my being, I am a goal-setter. Almost everything I do is formulated from a “goal-setting mentality.” I learned early in life that without strong, clear goals I would easily wander off track.

Since we are all individuals and our philosophies can vary a great deal, let me spur you on by sharing my own five point philosophy of life:

Point #1 - A positive attitude: I know a lot of people feel they’ve arrived once they join the “glass is half full” club, but I have expanded that concept to my own “the glass is full all the time” club. In fact, I am always seeking ways to make it overflow!

Someone once told me that everything we accomplish is 12% education and 87% attitude and ability to communicate. That’s why I have cultivated a positive attitude about everything. I refuse to entertain any negative thoughts. I get up every day affirming that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Point #2 - No worry: I discovered that worrying about things never did me any good, and in fact, it actually diluted my abilities and strength. Now I simply refuse to worry. I give any concerns I have to God and go about my business. I know He is well able to attend to all my needs.

Point #3 Peace and contentment: While I know that some days will definitely be better than others, I’ve made a decision to be happy each and every day. I view each day as new and full of promise. Learning to be contented and at peace no matter your situation is a great gift that God offers each one of us.

Point #4 Strength and Power to achieve: I believe that my potential to achieve is unlimited and backed by the power of Christ. I envision myself a risk-taker; someone who is bold and courageous, open to new opportunities.

Point #5 Stewardship: Everything already belongs to God, but because He loves me, He allows me to use some of his riches. I know that everything I have or achieve is because of His supply and generosity. Even the joy I am able to experience when I give to others is a gift directly from God.

Forming your own philosophy of living

You may think you already have a good idea of your philosophy of living, but I challenge you to take the time to actually write it down. Writing something down requires you to completely crystallize your thoughts and provides yourself with a very powerful motivation for action.

Once you have written a rough draft, continue to hone your words until you have a very concise list of points that guide your life. When you have it completed, make a copy and place it in a very accessible spot so you can refer to it often. Over time you will absorb your philosophy of living and it will become the “knee jerk” basis for all your life decisions.

By using a personal philosophy of living, you will clarify your goals and minimize the distractions and detours of life that can throw you off course. Knowing why you do what you do greatly increases the likelihood of your success.

When you think about it, isn’t your future a lot more important than plans for your next summer vacation?

Personal Development : Being A Better Person

The benefits of and growing as a person and making constant expansion is an innate part of us as human beings. All of us want to grow more and more and one's definition of personal growth along with a list of personal skills for use in your personal development is of paramount importance. Reaching your potential personal and professional development becomes more and more important as time goes by as everyone wants to get better in his or her life in every way possible.

Now when considering one's personal development, looking at wanting or having more with a list of personal skills does not necessarily make you better. To become a better person you need to get better inside and in reaching your potential personal and professional development quicker that you otherwise would have. You need to improve your inner self. Personal development helps one to become a better person and the our definition of growth is one of the first things to get defined.

Taking on personal development is a serious task. To make the world a better place (reaching your potential personal and professional development) we have to start with ourselves first. When your ideas, habits and attitudes change for the better, you could help others live their lives better. Though it sounds simple, it takes a lot of effort on your part. If it is so easy then why aren't others trying to become better? The theory of Self-actualization states that in order for human beings to grow to a higher level, they have to get their basic needs satisfied. The basic needs of a human being are: physiological, safety, acceptance or belonging, self-esteem and self-actualization. Let us see why these factors are important in helping us to become better persons.

o Man's physiological needs are food and water, i.e. basic survival. If you are starving and not having enough food and water to take care of your hunger and thirst, where would you get the strength from to think about becoming better? Only when you physiologically satisfy these needs can you think about your psychological hunger and thirst for self-knowledge. Your basic survival needs take the first place in your life and then your personal development.

o One has to ensure his personal safety above everyone else's security. If you do not feel safe in your personal life, how can you try to bring safety to others? Your constant fear would not make you think about others.

o With personal development acceptance or a sense of belonging is another essential need for human beings. We need understanding and love from our family and friends and the society we live in. This acceptance will make us think of doing good things for the people who accept us and in that process we become a better person.

o The need for self-esteem along with a list of personal skills - once you are a recognized person among your people, you believe that they respect you. This feeling promotes power and prestige in you. To maintain this self-esteem you would do good deeds to better their lives. This in turn would reflect on your goodness. People would recognize you as a better person among them.

o Finally, we all have a definition of personal growth and when you satisfy most of the above needs, the concept of Self-Actualization will dawn on you. With a satisfied hunger, security, acceptance and power, you want to develop stronger ties with others. You rise above yourself, in the sense you start giving more importance to other peoples' needs and wants. You believe in being committed to a greater cause than yourself.

Once you enter the doorway for self-realization
you would eventually learn to put other people ahead of you in life and you become a better person, naturally!

When is comes to personal development and our lives, the reality is that you can be whoever or whatever you choose to be, if only more of us would believe and act upon this then we would not have the level of apathy and the situation we see in our society.

How To Make More Money With Information Products Than Ever Before By Using No Cost Powerful Tools

It's all under your control.

If you sell information products and want to make more money with them, there's good news:

It's all under your control.

That's right, you can make more money with your information products simply by doing something that you have the power to do.

It's not dependent upon anyone else. It's up to you.

Let me explain ...

While there are a lot of different aspects of selling information products, there are really only two ways to make more money with them ...

Sell More
Refund Less

Really, it's pretty much that simple.

In order to make more money with information products you need to either SELL MORE or REFUND LESS.

Or, better still, do BOTH.

Now, in the many years I've been selling information products, I've found there are three powerful tools that will help you do just that.

You can use these three tools to SELL MORE by using them on your classified ads, solo mailings, sales letters, auto-responder messages and virtually any sales tool.

You can also use these three tools to REFUND LESS by applying them to the information products you create.

Care to find out what they are?

Read on ...

*** Three Powerful Tools ***
What makes these tools so powerful is a combination of important benefits

* They don't cost a penny to use.
* They work over and over again.
* They are under your control.

In fact, you already have them.

These three powerful tools are WAYS TO USE WORDS.

Tool #1. Education. When it comes to information products, nothing comes close to the power and profitability of educating your readers.

I'm talking the distance between the planet Pluto and the computer screen you're now staring at.

Not even remotely close.

Content is king. Nobody else gets to wear the crown or sit on the throne. Content rules the land of information products.

So, first things first, you gotta give your readers information that educates them. You gotta teach them something.

Do this in your promotion tools (ezine articles, reports, sales letters, etc.) and you'll have readers thinking "This person knows something ... I better take a closer look."

You'll SELL MORE.

Educate customers in your information products and show them how to produce results in their own lives and you'll make them happy, satisfied customers.

You'll REFUND LESS.

Tool #2. Entertainment. To be completely honest, it's not enough to solely provide content. Even if it's good content, that won't always get the job done.

Think of it this way: your high school civics teacher provided you with (too much) content in a single 55-minute class, but would you really buy anything from him?

Maybe a hall pass or a set of earplugs, but that's about it. :o)

Nobody likes to read BORING content. We turn off boring television programs, we fall asleep reading boring books and we keep our credit cards tucked firmly inside our pockets when we read boring sales letters, ezine articles, solo mailings or special reports.

Make it fun. Make it entertaining. And you can do that by using ...

* Illustrations
* Funny stories
* Analogies
* Outrageous statements

I once wrote an article entitled "I'll Swallow A Live Grasshopper If This Doesn't Boost Your Website Traffic".

Do you think anyone read it?

Ask yourself this: Would YOU like to read it?

We love to have a good time, and there's no reason why you shouldn't apply that reasoning to your writing.

Keep readers interested as they consume your promotion materials by entertaining them.

You'll SELL MORE.

Help customers enjoy reading page after page of your product by entertaining them.

You'll REFUND LESS.

When you add entertainment to education, you'll make more money with information products ...

... faster than you can say " "LIVE GRASSHOPPER." :o)

Tool #3. Emotion. Whether it's outrage over an injustice, excitement over a success or piqued interest over a possibility, our emotions drive us.

Few decisions are based on intelligent analysis, but rather on emotional response. Few actions are based on accurate data, but rather on impulsive feelings.

We are emotional people. And there is no stronger proof of that than to watch what we do and to listen to what we say.

Your job is to get us emotional. Fill us with hope. Empower us. Give us courage. Motivate us. Issue a challenge. Inspire. Get us to do something.

That's what we really want. More than education, more than entertainment - we want someone to compel us to do something to make our lives better.

And the power and profits go to the ones who can do that.

Fill readers with hope and expectation with your marketing materials.

You'll SELL MORE.

Give your customers confidence and enthusiasm as they read chapter after chapter of your information product.

You'll REFUND LESS.

*** Conclusion ***

If you want to make more money with information products, then you CAN do it. You're in charge. It's under your control.

Education.
Entertainment.
Emotion.

Three powerful tools that lead to incredible profits.

But, only if you use them.

Some will read this article and discard it like they have done with countless others.

And some will get busy.

I think you'll be one of the few who will make more money.

Prove me right.

How To Live Better for Less With Little Or No Sacrifices

Like many people my age, I was raised to be thrifty. Even when we had money to spend I would often opt for the cheaper alternative. In things like furnishings and clothing and wine, price is a poor measure of quality.

Real estate is a great example of this rule. You have the option to buy a hovel in California for $500,000 or a palace somewhere else for the same price. It’s all about what you want. At a time when many people are self-employed in careers that are not location sensitive, you can live where you want.

Places like California are not a particularly attractive place to live, considering the cost of living there. A small house that would sell for half a million in California can be bought in Birmingham for less than $100,000, maybe a lot less.

While in theory big cities have more options for shopping, music, activities, sports, education, and the arts, most people never leave their own immediate neighborhood to access these things.

With computers and TV you can get any activity you want in your own home without ever getting in your car or on public transportation.

Actually you can choose where you want to live based on the cost of living if you want. Different communities have different taxes, availability of shopping options, and other fees and costs that can vary nearly endlessly. Some of us like to consider all of those costs before we make a decision about buying real estate.

In the U.S., the big bargains are in the southeast and in the middle of the country. You, know, all the parts of the country that the entertainment industry and Washington ignore. For those of us who have no desire to be famous these places are nirvana.

So after you buy a home for a reasonable price, you then need furniture. Where should you look?

Did you know that with smart shopping you can completely furnish your whole house with things you find at

1. Garage sales

2. Stuff at auctions

3. Other second hand sources?

And you can do it for about 10 cents on the dollar.

The furniture you can buy may be much better quality than anything you could buy new, too. One way to sense quality in an old piece is the weight. Older furniture, furniture manufactured over 40 to 50 years ago, is not yet antique but it is usually hardwood. (Don’t buy particleboard. It is also heavy but it falls apart if damp gets to it.)

When furniture becomes an antique, it starts going up in price again. The magic # is 75 years old. I’m planning on holding mine until it gets old enough to be too valuable to keep.

Old furniture comes in every style from antique reproductions to hard contemporary. You can paint it, reupholster it or refinish it to match your heart’s desire in décor. Best of all, you can save BIG money.

We also frequently buy fabric at second hand sources to use in upholstery or clothing.

You can even buy appliances used. Furnish your kitchen in used things that give you the look you want. You don’t have to tell anyone you did it for 10 cents on the dollar. If you adapt things to your space and build them in, then you may call it “custom” made.

Why pay for “Custom” when you can get nearly the same effect for 10 cents on the dollar. It works for me.

A Positive Attitude in Life Will Allow You to Live Better

One of my favorite authors, William James, said, "It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult undertaking which, more than anything else, will determine its successful outcome." That much I have always known to be true. To have a Positive Attitude in Life is more of a mission than something I SHOULD do to make my life better.

There have been some studies done recently about how Attitude has affected folks who have lived to be a ripe old age and the results are nothing short of amazing. A majority of the studies were done on people that it had been determined that they had realized early on that A Positive Mental Attitude was worth it over the long haul. It was not something that they "Picked up" during a bad situation, not that is a bad thing if you make that change from a negative attitude for good. It is a lot like faith, really. Once you realize the intrinsic value of what faith can do for you, you can and will have a better quality of life, I believe.

These studies were shown to clearly establish that the folks that gave themselves completely to the Attitude that no matter what, they were determined to look at the situation in a Positive manner, they, more often than not, got a successful outcome to their situation.

Don't get me wrong, this is not a "Pie in the Sky" attitude that negates serious situations, but it is a better approach to thinking than the "Nothing good ever happens to me" approach.

My grandmother had an old wooden placard than hung on her wall in her kitchen for as long as I can remember that said, "I once complained that I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet." Now the imagery to a little kid of a man with no feet was never pleasant as I remember first reading it, but the significance, in my later years, was never lost on me.

The whole act of gratitude is a vital aspect of living with a Positive mindset. You see, if there is nothing inside of you that can be grateful for any small part of your life, then maybe it isn't possible for you to have a Positive Attitude in Life. I dare not think that the case, however.

Look around you and find someone else to share yourself with and that will give you a leg up on having a Positive Attitude. If you find that "Man with no feet" and can still not think of yourself in a better light, then shame on you.

Do it for yourself. My grandmother would be proud.

Time Management - Golden Key To Better Living

What is time management; but being focused on your personal and professional goals. One concept is the 'Pare to Principle' also called the '80:20 rule'. This rule states 80% of your time is not managed or is unfocused and it generates only 20% of the desired managed time. Even though the '80:20' ratio is a random number, this number system will put an emphasis on what is lost or gained by time management.

Time Management overview by some...

* Scheduling appointments
* Goal setting
* Prioritizing
* Step by step planning
* things to do lists

These are the core basics that should be understood, while developing efficient personal time management skills; these core basics can also be used in a professional setting as well. But, there is room for fine tuning these basic skills. The finer essence of each skill can provide you with an extra reserve to accomplish your prime objective.

The core basics are just the start of what you need for better time management. Other skills are needed to continue on your journey to a better, well rounded life. Decision making, natural abilities, such as, emotional intelligence and critical thinking are some fundamentals to personal growth.

Personal time management affects everything you do. Whether it will make a big impact on your life or hardly touch it; it counts! Everything you learn, any advice you consider, every new skill you acquire or tone, will be considered within your time management goal.

The result of good time management will equal out a balanced life style. This is the full aspect most practitioners never understand and fall short in their efforts.

Time Management = Results.

There are six personal time management areas most seekers wish to imporve: physical, intellectual, social, career, emotional and spiritual.

Let's break it down...

* Physical - physically healthy, stress management and mental stability.
* Intellectual - learning and mental growth.
* Social - personal and intimate relationships and being active in contributing to the community.
* Career - schooling and expanding knowledge as well as work.
* Emotional - manifesting the proper feelings and desires.
* Spiritual - a personal quest of meaning.

If you are not in the habit of practicing time management, you should first plan the goals you wish to reach. Then decide on the time line and step by step planning. One of the benefits of a 'things to do list' is to keep you on the right track to accomplish your set goals and to make sure you don't ignore important aspects of yourself.

Learning Time Management and Improving Your Personal Life.

* Review your goals, both short and long term, often.
* Keep a list withing access daily.
* Determine the most necessary task in bringing you one step closer to your goal; plus, help you maintain balance in your life style.
* Determine your peek time and slow time; these natural cycles can be used to benefit your progress. Work on your peek time to accomplish steps to your goals. This is when you are at your sharpest.
* Say "No". Learning this simple word and when to use it is essential. Whether it is to say 'no' to answering the phone or doing something with or for family and friends. This little word will keep you on track.
* Remember to praise or reward yourself when you've used time management effectively.
* Delegate items that need doing and involve the people around you; they too will benefit from your efforts of time management.
* Procrastination is the grave of opportunity. Don't put things off, single mindedly attend to matters at hand and accomplish your goals.
* A positive attitude is the perfect set up for success; always being realistic in setting your goals and achieving them.
* To keep your goal plans in perspective it is necessary to keep records or journals to be able to track your progress.

Following these steps will be a continuous journey in you becoming a well rounded and respected individual.

Time management is an art and science that will lead you into a better life.

A personal guarantee; once you apply and make a habit of using time management in your life, the options and solutions to your personal growth will broaden and improve significantly. The doors of opportunity will open and your choices will be numerous.

Living A Better Life - How To Choose What Life You Live

A better life is something that everyone wants and dreams of. You may not be concerned about having a better life for yourself, but what about for your children and one day, your grandchildren? What you may not know is that creating a better life for you and your family can be much easier than you think, however it may not always be simple.

Let me explain. Having a better life is as easy as making the proper choices that lead you to a better life. But it’s not always a simple thing to make AND live by those choices. Just think back to a time when you decided to make a change in your life that you knew would benefit you for the rest of your life. But after a few days you found it difficult to keep that decision. Making the choice to change is easy, acting on that choice isn’t always as easy.

So what life do you want to live? Do you want to live a better life or are you satisfied with your current situations? If you do want more out of life you have to realize that the decisions you make today will affect the life that you will have tomorrow. Kahlil Gibran once said, ‘We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them.’

So what you have to ask yourself is what kind of a better life you want to have tomorrow. Once you decide that, then you have to figure out what you have to do today to accomplish it. Remember that everything has a cause and affect in your life. You are where you are today because of the choices that you made yesterday, last month, last year, and even 20 or 30 years ago. Now what you have to do is choose what life you want to live and then do the corresponding actions to back up that decision.

Physical Fitness Means Living Better, Longer

Regular vigorous exercise can provide the basis for good health and wellness. In the past health was determined by the absence of disease or illness. Today we define health in terms of physical, mental and emotional wellness. The health, fitness, and medical experts now regard physical activity, practiced on a regular basis, as essential for achieving and maintaining good health.

Studies confirm that exercise will not only help you to live longer but enable you to live life at your fullest potential. But, being physically strong and fit is more than striving to live longer, it is striving to live better. If a proper exercise program helps you maintain good physical appearance, have more energy, sleep better, distress ones self, improve performance at a favorite sport or pastime and not have to worry about weight gain isn't it worth it?

Ponder the fitness truths listed below as this is what physical strength and fitness is all about. Being fit is about living every day to your fullest capacity not just getting by.

This goal is within the reach of anyone who educates themselves regarding strength and fitness.

Your body was made to be very active.

Your body cannot handle the stress of sitting most of the day.

Your body thrives on vigorous activity.

You need to use energy to gain more energy.

A physically fit body is better able to function at its full potential.

Strong and fit people tend to feel really good about themselves.

Most people would like to be strong and fit maybe not for the sake of appearance, but surely so that they can feel better and live longer. Unfortunately, many fall prey to mental obstacles that can prevent and get in the way of getting the exercise we need.

The first and most important obstacle to conquer if you want to improve your health and fitness is thinking of exercise as an option. Devoting a small portion of each day to physical fitness is a must, not an option or a luxury.

If you don't make time to maintain strength and fitness the consequences may not be obvious in the short term. It could be tempting to engage in wishful thinking: "If I don't work out, no one will know the difference." That may be true - for a while.

It takes time, years, even decades for a lack of physical activity to take its toll on our bodies. But the consequences will surely come: weight gain, lack of energy, loss of strength, loss of self esteem, daily tasks will start to become harder. Your career will suffer, your bones will become weaker and more brittle, your posture will take on an aged look, your heart and lungs will grow weaker, and you will become more prone to nasty diseases that could well shorten your life.

All too often, we go through life, stumbling along down the road of good intentions. We intend to get in that gym workout today. Or, we may intend to begin an exercise program. But intentions, alone, are not enough we need to get started and continue to do it with consistency. Consistency with an exercise program helps it become a habit - a normal part of your everyday life

You will find yourself looking forward to having that time to yourself...time to think, time to center yourself after the busyness of the day, time to release stress and time to recharge the batteries. In the long run, it's all up to you and you have the power to make yourself look better, be healthier and live longer.

Better Living Through Sport: The Top 10 Inspirational Sports Movies

This morning, 37,000 competitors in the New York City Marathon will be running a block away from my apartment.

Last night, I watched the DVD of Pride, an “inspired by true events” sports flick that had an amazingly short theatrical run. Because it’s pretty crappy. In fact, there’s only two whole reasons to watch Pride:

•One is Terrence Howard’s great performance as Jim Ellis, the janitor-turned-swim-coach who saves a failing neighborhood rec center and a bunch of troubled teens by creating a swimming program. Howard is truly turning into one of the finest character actors around.
•I’d say another 1/2 of a reason is the half-of-a-performance Bernie Mac turns in.
•One more 1/2 of a reason is the swimming action, because underwater camera shots of competitive swimming are just really exciting.
(The two biggest reasons to stay away from Pride are bad, cliche-ridden writing and Tom Arnold (ugh). Nevertheless, I’m a sucker for these types of movies, so I cried anyway when the Philly kids overcame their obstacles and improved their self-esteem through sport.)

I love inspirational sports movies, completely irony-free. So I compiled a list of the Top 10 Inspirational Sports Movies. Behold:

10. The Bad News Bears (1976). The greatest sports misfit movie of all time, hands down. The 2005 Richard Linklater remake ain’t bad either.

9. The Karate Kid (1984). Yes, it’s an awfully dumb film, but ‘Sweep the leg!” has become a battle cry for cripsters. I’d say The Karate Kid is Generation X&Y’s The Natural. The Karate Kid Part II deserves a nod, too, because of its outlandish final fight scene. Way better than Rudy.

8. Blood of Heroes (1989). My genre schlock entry for this list is a Rutger Hauer classic about a post-apocalyptic American Gladiator-esque sport in which Joan Chen gets to bite the ear off of one of her competitors. Other strong schlock contendors: Rollerball (1975) and Bloodsport (1988).

7. Glory Road (2006). Glory Road is not a subtle film, but its source material is so astonishing that the film justifiably hits you like a brick. The story of Texas Western coach Don Haskins coaching the first all-African-American starting lineup to an NCAA National Championship is basketball legend; accordingly, the film makes every moment feel mythic. (Inspired by a true story!) Sorry folks, it’s a better film than Hoosiers.

6. Remember the Titans (2000). This is essentially a big budget after-school special, but it’s hard to argue with Denzel Washington’s performance and the great football action. (Inspired by a true story!) An honorable mention in the “better teamwork through fascist coaching” category is Coach Carter (2005) (also inspired by a true story!).

5. Hoop Dreams (1994). Documentary! Profoundly awesome.

4. The Rocky movies (1976 – ?). Pick a Rocky, any Rocky.

3. Miracle (2004). Another sports legend: the 1980 US Olympic hockey team’s triumph over unbeatable Russia. It’s Kurt Russell’s finest movie hair. And I can’t help but be charmed by the Disney-style history lesson throughout. It’s great. (Inspired by a true story!)

2. Breaking Away (1979). Breaking Away achieves gut-munching levels of inspiration in its combo of coming-of-age goodness and cycling love. One of my all-time favorite everythings. The same filmmaker made the Kevin Costner cyclefest American Flyers (1985), which isn’t a good film, but deserves a mention ’cause there’s a scene where a dude runs up the Morgul Bismarck carrying a bike and another where Rae Dawn Chong gives an inspirational speech about a rock.

1. Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993). I know, I know…. this isn’t actually a sports film at all. It’s about little genius kids who play chess. But every minute of Searching for Bobby Fischer resonates with great sports film moves; it’s epic AND moving AND funny; it’s got breathtaking chess action; it’s got Joan Allen as the coolest sports mom EVER; and it’s inspired by a true story!

So there you have it. I know I should probably have A League of their Own on this list, but it’s got Tom Hanks in it. “What about Chariots of Fire?’ you might ask. It’s boring! How about The Hustler and The Color of Money? They’re too cool for sports movies. What about gonzo hockey Slap Shot? Well, shoot, that actually deserved to be on my list.

Sorry, Slap Shot!

We have got to abandon that sense of amazement in the face of creativity, as if it were a miracle if anybody created anything.” — Abraham Maslow

The artist starts with a blank canvas – silence. The composer places it between and behind the notes. The very ground of your being, out of which comes all your thoughts, is silence. The way to silence is through meditation. When you arrive in your own silence you will know true freedom and real power. Stop, take a minute, and listen to the silence within you today. Then be aware of what disturbs your inner silence. It could be negative thoughts, memories, sensations. And when you are aware, you will know what is draining your creative power, and you will know what needs to change…on the inside!” — Relax7.com

Better Life - How To Create A Better Life

To have a better life you have to be proactive in everything you do. You can make goals, action plans, speak affirmations over your life, and read as many books as you like, but none of that will do you any good if you don’t actually DO something. Without action there will be no success.

A better life will come to you as soon as you begin to line your actions up with your plans. Aesop once said, ‘It is easy to be brave from a safe distance.’ Or in the case of having a better life, it’s easy to make your life look great from the outside but until you actually do the work, you will never have the life that you want.

How many books have you read, how many goals have you made, and how many affirmations have you said but still haven’t found the better life that you are looking for? Don’t get me wrong, all of those things are great and necessary but you are leaving out the key ingredient.

Think back to when you were learning to drive a car. You probably had to pass a theory test before you were ever able to drive. In theory, you knew everything there was know about how to drive a car but you never actually got behind the wheel to make it happen. Having a better life works a lot like that. You may have all the theory down but without the action to back it up you simply look like you know what you are talking about.

Don’t just talk about a better life, have a better life by doing the things necessary to get there.

10 HARD Ways to Make Your Life Better

Some of the most worthwhile things in life aren’t easy. One of the things I dislike most about “power of positive thinking”-style personal development philosophies (such as “The Secret”) is the implication that if you just have the right attitude and the right state of mind, the rest will just fall into place. I think it causes a lot of hurt and disappointment in people who invest their time, effort, and of course, money into these systems and find themselves, one or two or five years down the line, exactly where they were before.

“You must not have wanted it badly enough,” the authors of these philosophies seem to be saying. “There must still be something wrong with you.”

I don’t think that, ultimately, God or the Spirits or the Universe or the world “provides”. I think a lot of times the world puts obstacles in our way, and no amount of positive thinking makes them go away. And I think that a lot of the people who are “successful”, by whatever standard you want to use, have as much “wrong” with them as a lot of the ones who aren’t successful. Maybe more.
In any case, wherever the motivation comes from, the things that really make our lives worth living can be quite difficult. (And who knows, maybe thinking positively helps take some of the edge off of doing the hard stuff?) What’s more, they can take a lot of time to do, and even more time to get right. But I think that doing is the important thing, not the result — throwing yourself into something with all your heart, mind, and soul is the success, not the “growing rich” part.

Here, then, are ten things that are really hard to do but which have an incredible power to make your life better.

1. Start a business
My dad, who has been self-employed almost all his life, used to tell me that “Only jerks work for jerks.” Working for someone else puts you at their mercy and subjects you to their whims — and often their poor management skills. Not only that, but the profit of your labor goes into their pockets.

Starting a business puts you in control of your work life, and your money. It’s hard — small businesses fail every day. But the rewards of even a failed venture can far outweigh the risk. Just knowing that your failure was the result of your own choices — instead of a decision made at a corporate office a thousand miles away — can be liberating.

2. Organize a group
What makes you passionate? Chances are, being around other people who are passionate about the same thing would make you even more passionate about it. Often the only thing keeping you and them from coming together is that nobody’s put out a sign saying “Come and talk!” Getting a group going is a tremendous challenge, and very often the personality of the founder leaves a tremendous mark on the group as a whole. Seeing a group grow and take off can be tremendously awarding — but even failing can teach you important things about leadership.

3. Volunteer
I don’t mean spend Thanksgiving at a soup kitchen, though that can often be challenging enough. What I mean, though, is to make a long-term investment in your community by joining school committees, donating three hours a week in a shelter, hosting a monthly read-along at the library, tutoring at-risk children after school, teaching adult literacy classes at a local prison, or any of a million ways to play a role in the lives of people who need you. Perhaps the most pressing need in our society is for people to take an interest in and engage with their communities.

4. Take an active role in your children’s’ activities
Pick one thing your child does and commit yourself to it. Coach their team, become a Brownie leader, spend a weekend day in the workshop with them, buy a bike and ride along with them — make their passions your own. Don’t crowd them — especially if you have teenagers — but show them that you value something they do by giving them your time and interest.

5. Start a family
I don’t mean have kids. That can be all too easy! Make the decision to have a family, which means to give of yourself fully to another person or several people. Risk being vulnerable by sharing your fears, quirks, and failures with someone else; you might find it makes you stronger than ever before.

This transcends marriage and parenthood. There are lots of people who can’t marry because the law prevents it. There are people who can’t have children. These are not the essential ingredients of family. The essential ingredients are love, mutual respect, trust, and open giving. Find (or make) someone you can share that with.

6. Write a book
It feels really, really good to see your name on a book cover, but it feels even better to know that someone, somewhere, might find his or her life changed by something you’ve written. Share your particular expertise, whether it’s story-telling or woodworking, with the world — or just your family. Time isn’t the big issue (though it is an issue — don’t let the positive thinkists tell you otherwise!) but if you commit yourself to a page a day — a couple hundred words — within a year you’ll have a pretty decent-sized manuscript. That’s something to work with!

7. Learn an art
Take painting lessons, a pottery workshop, a music class, whatever — learn to express yourself and you might find a self worth expressing. Don’t settle for being a “Sunday painter” — devote yourself to an art and master it.

8. Run for office
The world needs smart, dedicated, and upright people to take care of all the fiddly details of making things run. As it happens, running for local office isn’t as challenging as you’d think (which isn’t to say it’s easy) — Michael Moore, the filmmaker, ran for school board while he was still in high school. Just for kicks. And won! It’s fine to have your heart set on the White House or Capital Hill, but try your hand at city councilperson, county registrar, or something closer to home first. And be clean — run for the experience of putting your community on a better path, and not for the power.

9. Take up a sport
Enough with the working out already! Sure, you want to be healthy, but the whole treadmill-running, iPod-listening, 45-minutes-after-work thing is a little anti-social, don’t you think? OK, you want some solitude once in a while — fine. But at least add a sport, something you do with other people. You’ll be spending time interacting with others, while also developing team-building and leadership skills. And, you might learn something from your fellow players.

10. Set an outrageous goal — and achieve it!
The nine tips above are only a handful of ideas about how to make your life better. Maybe you want to record an album, climb a mountain, make the Hajj (the pilgrimage to Mecca), see 20 countries — don’t just settle for tiny goals, push yourself all the way to the edge and figure out how to make the craziest thing you can think of happen. Yes, you’ll have to learn a lot along the way, and plan months or even years in advance — that’s what makes outlandish goals worthwhile.

I don’t want to suggest that you need to do all these things to be happy — doing just one is quite a handful! But if you’re unhappy with your life, if you want to make a change for the better, you need to think big and you need to be ready to put in the work to make it happen. It’s easy to “visualize success” and to “think positively”; it’s not so easy to throw yourself into the unknown and make it work. But if you can make it work, you’ll gain far more than you can imagine.

My Ideal Educational Philosophy

In an ideal world, I really believe that the majority of people who are involved in education, whether they’re a teacher, administrator, coach, counselor, are anything else, would have a genuine care for kids. I also think that most educators really are trying to do the best they can with what they have, and they probably feel that their style or philosophy of what they’re doing is the best way to do it. So while I also have my own beliefs of how things should be done, and how I eventually want to do things when I become a teacher, I am aware that my beliefs can be subjective, and I would hope to be flexible enough to change and evolve as a teacher, as my beliefs change and evolve.

As of today, I sincerely believe that regardless of style or philosophy, there are certain parameters that need to be a part of every classroom, such as discipline, accountability, tolerance, care, and maybe a few others. But the irony to me is that, over the years, the way I define these things, what they mean to me, and how they are carried out, probably will change, as have other things in life. I think that a good teacher, has to be aware of these changes, not only in themselves, but in their students as well, and they should be versatile enough as a teacher to be able to adjust to these changes and remain effective.

https://paydotcom.com/r/1011/shmoov2b/24984240/

The reality today is that the learning environment for our kids has expanded greatly. Kids are learning from TVs., from the internet, from friends, from music, and host of other things, teachers have got to be able to get their attention for the short time that they have them, and get them to learn; Whether they like it or not, and whether they know it or not. And unfortunately most of today’s kids don’t respond as well to some of the more traditional teaching styles, and thus their learning can be inhibited, regardless of the importance or quality of the information you are giving them.

In a lot of ways I am in a privileged position as a campus monitor in that I am a staff member, and now I can see how things work on that side. But as a monitor and a coach, I also am around the kids a lot and I develop relationships with them that while still professional, they are less formal then traditional student/teacher relationships tend to be, and I can get a sense for when they’re really learning, and when they’re just getting (or not getting) a grade.

I can also hear from them what they say about teachers such as, who they like, who they pay attention to, and who makes them want to learn. After looking at it from both sides, when I think about which teachers I think are the best, it doesn’t have anything to do with male/female, black/white, older/younger, short/tall, coach/science teacher, or anything like that. They do all have similar qualities in that they care first of all, they are all willing to be creative and try new things, and they are all aware of discipline and accountability, all with a touch of humility as well.

https://paydotcom.com/r/1011/shmoov2b/24984240/

For teachers today, it seems being effective for a long period of time carries a big responsibility in that it’s a constant challenge to learn, evolve, and adjust to the natural ebbs and flows of life. There is no comfort zone, so to speak, where you can see growth in a class one year or even a couple years, and you can figure if you do what you did with last year’s 8th graders, next year’s 8th graders will respond the same way. There is a constant challenge to gain knowledge, and knowledge itself is becoming more and more subjective every day, making that challenge even harder.

What was so important or essential to know last year, you might find it just isn’t so anymore, or it has been replaced by something just as or more important to know, like the year the internet came out, encyclopedia’s became instantly expendable, or after midnight morning January 1st 2000, Y2k became a little less important. Not to mention that what becomes important knowledge to one person may not mean anything to another. The kid who is hungry everyday and has to fight to eat, or for clothes, or for love, they may not care at all about the square root of nine, or who shot who at the Battle of Gettysburg.

To me there has to be some relation to this wealth of knowledge that we are trying to teach these kid’s, and the real lives that they are living. The other half of having knowledge as a teacher is being able to deliver that knowledge to their students in a way that their students can both hear, and absorb. Knowing how to deliver that knowledge effectively, and really get student’s to absorb and learn it, is knowledge in itself.

https://paydotcom.com/r/1011/shmoov2b/24984240/

During my younger years as a student, I always considered myself to be smart, I always felt like I knew at least a little bit about a lot of things, but I was never a consistent student. My individual motivation never came from really wanting and trying to learn the information, I was an athlete so my immediate motivation was to be eligible to play, and once I realized I wanted to go to college my motivation was to be good enough to get into college, after all that there was getting good grades, even still that wasn’t just for the knowledge, but more for my parents, or maybe to get a job.

I do however remember certain classes that I was already interested in, but even more I remember certain teachers or professors who were able to spark some sort of interest in me and ended up making me want to learn more. But, in my scholastic career, these situations were rare. I tell people all the time there is probably 10% of what I learned in college that I still remember from my classes, what I did learn and I do remember are such things as keeping a schedule, how to formulate thoughts and put them on paper, punctuality, keeping a budget, and whole lot of other useful things that you learn from life as a student, that would have been useful had I learned them earlier. I guess I would like to be the type of teacher that can somehow put some of these real life things into learning and give my students not only information, but also help prepare them for life in the real world.

What's This New Core Training Everybody keeps Talking About?

Core Activated Stability Training

To activate your core by definition, from a standstill position, you need to first relax, feet shoulder width apart and your toes pointed straight forward, tilt your pelvis forward which almost automatically causes you to flex your gluts (butt), once your gluts are flexed you want to try and suck your stomach in with your chest out, and finally you want to be able to breath from this position.

That's core actvation, from here it becomes an exercise to train yourself to breath, while maintaining an active core, and once you become comfortable with breathing you can begin to strengthen and maintain your core and exercise simultaneously. People often mistake their core muscles for their abdominal muscles, this is a common misconception. To better visualize your core muscles also known as your Trans-Verse Abdominals or TVA’s, picture your spinal cord with an insulation of muscles around it, from up near your lower chest, and going down through your waistline; these are the base muscles for the human body. Whereas your “abs” in the traditional sense also called your rectus-abdominus, are only used for front to back movements, your TVA’s go front to back, side to side, and any type of rotational movement. By activating your core and being able to maintain activation while exercising. You are benefiting your body in a number of ways.

In going through daily life we all have different tendencies and habits that when done over time can gradually begin to cause imbalance in our muscle structure, which eventually will pull our bodies out of alignment. This can be anything from the way we walk or the way we sleep, to how we sit or stand, or it could be something as simple as being right or left handed. Each of these factors has a hand in the way our bodies grow and develop. With that being said we should note that we all have an optimal body alignment that can be reached, which can give us an optimal balance, and an optimal amount of body control. With these optimum levels of alignment and balance, only then can our optimum athleticism be attained.

By activating our core we are putting our bodies in alignment, we’re in perfect balance, and we can now build our bodies much more efficiently and effectively around a strong activated base. With the traditional no-functional way of weight training, aside from the specific muscle being worked, the body is generally in a relaxed or non-active position, whether it’s laid back on a bench or sitting down doing curls, tricep extensions etc. These exercises may make your muscles look good but they are being done on stable surfaces which in themselves do some of the work for you, and they do not accurately simulate real life movements.

Whereas with your core stable and activated you can do functional exercises that are more similar to our real life movements. By using an unstable surface combined with an activated core, you are now developing and strengthening you core which is initially your primary muscle you should develop. Once you have done this the rest of your muscles with fall in line and are able to develop much more efficiently around your core, giving you your optimal body control for your body.
To help you visualize this think of which sports or activities develop pound for pound the strongest athletes you would have to say martial arts, gymnastics, swimming, dancing, or even boxing, these are all athletes we know to have great control of their entire bodies.

https://paydotcom.com/r/81803/shmoov2b/24984177/

Every one of these sports not only relies on having a strong core, but on the continual strengthening of that core. If you think of Bruce Lee in his fighting stance about to kick or something, you can see his pelvis is tilted and his core is tight. And as Bruce makes his way through his fighting scene, clearly he is outnumbered and is forced to do some unbelievable maneuvers, but the throughout you never find him out of balance or not ready for whatever comes next. This is the essence of core training.

Another factor that needs to be touched on is the idea of stretching. I’m sure we all know or have heard how important stretching is for our bodies, but I’m not sure we all realize how important our body alignment is to that. Along with the optimal athleticism, alignment, and balance we were talking about there is also an optimal amount of flexibility that can be attained as well, but with our muscle structure off that is when it can be a chore or even painful to stretch. But when we do get everything on the same page it's a beautiful thing that definitely helps us live better.

Power Cash Secret – Let's Try This

As I talked about in a previous post, there are a lot of websites out there that claim to have the secret to success on the internet and most of these sites make ridiculous claims of how much money you can make using their system. Most of these are lies and just pumped up sales letters to try and make you a believer so you will purchase their product.

This really looked like it was just another one of those products, until I read it and started implementing it yesterday, and I actually made my money back already.

On the home page of Power Cash System the author Matthew Myers talks about his battle with debt and how he was finally able to defeat the problem by using his secret techniques to generate thousands of dollars on the internet. He then goes on to explain that he shared his system (which would later be named Power Cash Secret) with four of his family members.

After these four lucky individuals started applying his techniques online they immediately began seeing profits. After about a year of following the secret techniques in Matthew Myer’s system each of them were making a killing online sometimes more then $700 in a single day!

Now this is a huge claim and like you I sure as hell didn't believe it, and I'm still skeptical, but I've been proven wrong so far. I honestly thought I was going to purchase Power Cash System and throw away another 50 bucks just to write a horrible review and try to save as many people as possible the hassle and save them their hard earned money, but this was not the case at all.

After purchasing Power Cash Secret I quickly realized that this was more than just a simple e-Book based on the information I was reading. It was all done up in very well thought out step by step audios, but the system also came with tons of other perks to help me along the way, everything from audio tapes to bonus programs. I couldn’t believe the plethora of material that was actually included with the purchase price, I haven't come close to going through everything yet.

I carefully followed just a couple of the Power Cash Secret. The first thing I used was a very detailed set of audio guides from the pros explaining how to get started right away, and for you newbie’s out there this will teach you every thing you need to know to be well on your way to making a killing online. The second part which I haven't gotten to yet looks a little more in-depth and seems to really give away all of the tricks and secrets that are not talked about in any other money making system out there. The things Matthew Myers discuses in part 2 of his Power Cash Secret are flat out the only things you really need to be successful online (there must be a lot of gurus pissed at him for sharing these kind of secrets).

I took a dip in the audio pool with tons of audio interviews to choose from. These interviews really dug deep into the mind of some of the biggest names on the internet… period.
After listening to a few of these audio interviews I was pumped and ready to start making some money (I had completely forgotten that I didn’t think I was going to enjoy this system).

I followed the easy step by step system Matthew laid out for me in part 1 and within 24 hrs I made my money back. I was and still am excited about the possibilities. I expect that once I start to implement some of the secrets in part two my profits should show a dramatic increase. Maybe I should have waited until I actually did make some real money, but I felt so good about this one I had to spread the word.

Needless to say the rotten negative review of Power Cash Secret that I was planning on writing is not going to happen anymore. After trying several money making systems online that promised the world and did nothing but steal my $50 I am relieved to say I finally found a product that pushed me out of this downward spiral of failure and drug me to success and really taught me the techniques I needed to know to begin earning a substantial income from home online.

I highly recommend this product for anyone who is honestly looking to make real money on the internet. The best part is even as a true beginner Power Cash System has everything you need to get started and achieve success in no time.

Hopefully within my first year I will be able to see the type of daily income his family members were able to enjoy (and trust me I'm still skeptical but I feel good about this).

Athletic Integrity

The Sportsworld as we know it is at a pivotal crossroads with possible ramifications that could change everything. The integrity of the entire sports world is coming into question admist alleged reports from nearly every mainstream sport of athletes using performance inhancers or being closely associated with someone who was. And in case you haven't noticed the recent "war on steroids" hasn't really done much to deter more and more athletes from giving them a try. Just this year we've seen both Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez two of the greatest baseball players to ever play both be associated with steriods. Quite frankly, to some athletes, the reward of stardom, celebrity, money, etc., is percieved as a good trade off for both the risk of getting caught, as well as possibly severly damaging their body. And according to most insiders, the ones who have been caught are only the tip of the iceburg compared to the number who are actually using them.

Looking at this as plain and simply as I can, in my opinion I don't think there is much more that we can do with this current situation as it is for probably the next 3-5 years, it's too far gone and the testing needs time to catch up to the cheater's. We as fans are aware, it's not like we don't know what's going on, we know and truthfully right now we don't care. Maybe in a few years when all the records that we watched being set growing up are being easily surpassed, we'll see that it was kinda cool for a while, but it will get old. So for now, in dealing with grown up professional athletes, if that's their choice, I say let 'em do it. Expose them, follow their story, watch the unfortunate ending that inevitably comes from cheating, and start educating the world, especially the youth.

In reallity the biggest concern from professional athletes doing this is that others especially the young athletes see them do it, and the immediate reward that comes with it, and likewise they end up doing the same thing. To help this trend, in my opinion, we should start educating people about not only the dangers of using performance enhancers and overall health, but also educate them about all natural healty alternatives that can assist today's athlete and promote good health at the same time.

During my time as both, a player in high-level training, and now as a certified Personal Trainer and Coach, while I can say that I have never cheated or tried steriods or nothing like that, I have tried many different ways to try and gain an advantage through workouts, diet, vitamins and supplements, and such. I have tried some that I felt to be very effective, and others that I felt like were a waste of money, and I have been able to see from two perspectives. After spending countless hours in the gym from my playing days I was able to tell first hand what worked and didn't work on me. And now being a Personal Trainer, I am able to monitor and record results, and I can form a more educated opinion about which products and methods actually work. Let's spread the word about All-Natural steroid alternatives, we can all be Naturally Fit.

Is Online Money Real?

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I am starting to have some serious doubts about the possibility of making real, long-term money online. I have been trying and trying to find my niche as I keep hearing about other people, some of them I know, who are doing it and who are pretty successful at it, up until this point, I have not been able to take off like I've wanted. I have always made enough to cover my losses, but when you take into account the amount of time I put in just to break even, and since we all know that time is money, it just didn't seem worth it. But here I am on here again and still trying to find out how to make this work.

As I look throught he internet to try and find a program that really works it almost feels like I'm buying a lottery ticket in that maybe I land on a credible site that really works (not likely) instead of one of the million out there that really are b.s. All the sites generally look the same with a big bold headline telling me how much I'm going to make in the first ten minutes, bright colors, a few testimonials, and a money back guarantee that is not always guaranteed.

I must say though, that as I've started to get a little more experience online and navigating through this forest of online money, it's getting a little bit easier to identify the b.s. right away. Little clues such as misspellings or grammer errors, missing or broken links, or outdated information can sometimes tip you off to phony site. These are not %100 though as there are a number of phony sites out there that do everything right but are only there to take your money.

As I'm writing this article, I can't really get to upset at all these phony sites, they are just trying to make a buck just like I am, my problem really comes in when they are dishonest on purpose, such as offering a money back guarantee that isn't there. But if you can pull of the sales pitch of a lifetime and get somebody to buy your product that basically sells them a dream of being rich, hey more power to you. I would urge all of you determined online employees out there to not get discouraged and give up, making money online is real, but sometimes you have to get out of the forest before you can see the tree's. So take a step back, gather your thoughts, and pay close attention to what these sites are really offering, and I'll see you in cyberspace. There is nothing more comfortable then working at home.
